We took probably the hardest route up to Rose Knob. But the clarity and views of Lake Tahoe were unbelievable all the way. Seriously. I couldn’t stop taking photos. The lake was so calm and so blue, surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
Some sections of the hike were incredibly steep. It’s difficult to capture the steepness in photos.
Standing on top of the post-pile, which is about 2/3 of the way up.
Right around this area, we crossed paths with a small group of hikers, one of whom was a guy visiting from Forest Lake, MN.
Then we get to this.
After the rock scramble, we finally made it up to the Tahoe Rim Trail. Final stretch.
Climbing the final section to the very top of Rose Knob.
Top! View of Lake Tahoe from Rose Knob. And snack time!
This was the hardest 4-miler we’ve ever done. 2326′ elevation gain. 2 miles of steep uphill followed by 2 miles of steep downhill. Magnificent views the entire trek, though. I took way too many photos.
After this tough hike, we really worked up an appetite and rewarded ourselves with burgers from Minden Meat & Deli!
